塩(えん)でできた丸いテーブルである。塩と砂糖でつくった器に砂状の塩が満たされている。そこに先のとがった食器を差して固定する。砂漠を旅するキャラバンの文化からヒントを得たこのテーブルのプロジェクトによって、私たちの日常の食習慣でのテーブルと食器の関係とは異質の感覚を作り出すことを試みた。
This is a round table made from salt (en). Bowls made of sugar and salt are filled with granular salt. This thin-edged tableware is spread out and fixed in place. Taking hints from the culture of caravans traveling around the desert, this table project was an experiment in producing a different sensibility for the relationships between table and tableware in our everyday dining habits. Its surface is raked after use, as in a zen garden.
